Day 736 ketogenic diet update 11/6/2017

Thes past couple weeks of getting back on the ketogenic diet have been a bit challenging. It is even more difficult because of the holidays just around the corner. About 18 months ago I was on the diet and following it to the exact calorie. Right now it is just being a bit difficult to readjust back on to the diet. The real challenging is only eating 1600 calories a day or less. The one thing that I think is affecting my dieting too is my limitations in the gym. Rehabbing my knee is still affecting me. Right now, I cannot push my hardest when doing cardio. The last time I was on the ketogenic diet, I was able to push hard with cardio. For now, until I am fully recovered I am limited to the elliptical or bicycle. I have another couple months of rehab before I can really push myself.

Today my diet remained consistent to start. I had three eggs with three pieces of muenster cheese.  I had a snack of one scoop whey and one tablespoon of olive oil. The whey protein I use is low carb perfect for a ketogenic diet. For lunch, I had a 6-ounce chicken breast and 8 tablespoons of guacamole. In the afternoon I had another whey protein shake and one tablespoon of olive oil. For dinner, I had 8 baked chicken wings  Then I went to physical therapy for my knee.

After therapy, I went to the gym. I did a 1000 rep back workout. Ten exercise, 100 reps total for each exercise. This was a suggestion from Body Spartan.  This company really has there head wrapped around extremely brutal workouts. They also have exercises based on ketogenic diets which are another plus. I plan on doing these high rep workouts for twelve to sixteen weeks. By then my muscles should be really wide awake and I should be back on the diet.

Day 733 ketogenic diet update 11/3/2017

Just as I expected no more weight loss on a ketogenic diet this week. It has turned into a huge learning experience on this diet again. There are some things I need to think about for the upcoming week. One thing I need to think is proper food choice while out to eat. Another thing I learned is I need to be more proficient tracking my daily food intake. These two things can mean the difference of two pounds for the week or 6 pounds for the week. My ketogenic diet will continue to need adjusting throughout the upcoming weeks.  Eventually, I will get bored of what I eat every day for breakfast and lunch. I will have to go back to alternative food when that happens. I will have a discussion about that when it happens for me. These are just things I need to do to reach my goal.

My diet for today was all over the place, to say the least.  I woke up and had three eggs for breakfast. Then I headed to the airport to hang out. I had some popcorn up there and two chewy granola bars. This is carb loading day on the ketogenic diet remember that. By the time we left the airport we were starving. I went home and cooked some interesting Thai food. I sauteed some calamari in olive oil. While that was going on I made some cous cous.  I made a Thai peanut sauce and mixed it with the calamari after draining that pan. This was a good spicy meal, to say the least. The peanut sauce was very filling and good. After eating a small amount my wife and I were full.  I am glad I cooked instead of going out to eat for dinner.  The meal was a little filling.

 

After dinner, I went to the gym. I did an 800 rep chest workout. This just about destroyed my chest pushing that many reps. I am starting to work like the body spartan below check them out. I will be writing a post about them soon.

Day 731 ketogenic diet update 11/1/2017

Well, I am in a hotel room today so I do not know if I have dropped any weight today. After what I had for dinner last night I doubt I did.  Yesterday definitely messed up the ketogenic diet for the week. At this point, I do not know if I can recover from it through the rest of the week. I have realized I just cannot go out to eat while doing this diet. Either that or I will need to pick better foods when I go out to eat. I think if I would have just gotten a caesar salad, my status on the ketogenic diet for the week would be better.  It really makes me step back and think about things. I really need to drill into my head again 1600 calories and 50 grams of carbs or less. That is what makes up a ketogenic diet to follow.

Today, at least in the morning was not much better. I am at a hotel and this means a big breakfast or multiple serving. I had a few servings of bacon and eggs. For lunch, I had 6 ounces of chicken. I had a snack of one serving of whey protein and one tablespoon of olive oil. After that, I forgot to track it what I ate. This is another bad thing to do on a ketogenic diet or any diet for that matter. If you track everything you eat you will be successful. You will go back and realize what you need to eat or not eat. When I am being strick I track everything on the ketogenic diet. This gives me focal points for the next week to concentrate on. So the past 48 hours have not been my best effort in weight loss. This would catch up with me.

Day 455 to 461 6/1 keto diet 1/29/2017 to 2/4/2017

I have finally had a successful week on keto again. This is the first time in awhile where I have seen some weight loss as well. It was a great week for one particular reason, that is, I started measuring food again. This is extremely important when it comes to a keto diet. Measuring food, is actually important for all diet regardless if it is a keto diet or not. Now, I did not see any drastic weight changes this week just small ones. I am just happy I am slowly getting back on track. The upcoming weeks will really tell if I am back on track. They will show if my weight starts dropping again if I am back on track.

Canyon Chicken Chili

During my Friday carb load, I tried something different. The only carbs, I added to the day were two scoops of carb 10 from MTS.  This put my total carb intake on that day to around 80 grams of carbs. I usually would eat a  bunch of potatoes or some other carbs for my carb loading. I am really trying to get my weight back down. On Saturday, I also watched my carb intake. For breakfast, I had two slices of ezkiel bread with a two tablespoons of peanut butter and 1/2 cup of oat meal with a scoop of protein. If I, continue to weight food in the upcoming weeks I should be able to see my weight starting to drop again drastically. Right now, on keto, I am aiming for 1900 calories a day due to the fact I have a physical job.

I also continued my weight lifting starting, Sunday, Monday, Friday and Saturday. The above, was my weight on Saturday which give me a total weigh loss for the week of just over two pounds. I will continue to carb load like I did this week.

Day 448 to 454 6/1 keto diet 1/22/2017 to 1/28/2017

This week on keto was unsuccessful to say the least. I have not adjusted yet back to the high fat low carb diet. This is proving more of a challenge then I originally thought. The week started out with me in the mid 220 again. This weight puts me up twenty pounds from 4 months ago. That weight was also before I heart my knee running. Remember, I was training to run a half marathon. I think, I have a plan for the upcoming week to finally get back on the keto diet. To start, I am going to re-adjust my calories back up to 1900. This is where I was at last year when I plateaued. My job was also a desk job at this time last year. The other thing I will do is absolutely stay away from snacking after dinner.

The photos above do show some progress, but I am still not where I want to be. I was hoping to be down around 185 to 195 pounds by now. My thought is, I will have to work harder and eat smarter. My carb loading did not help either as my weight went back up by six pounds. The adjustments, I am going to make for the upcoming week will really help me start losing weight again.The key to weight loss is calories in then calories out.  This week I also made it to the gym all but one day.  Exercise is vital to a keto diet. I am back to lifting weight Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I am slowly getting back into the routine

I used to have before moving jobs and hurting my knee. The only thing really left, is to get the diet really back on track.In the next upcoming week should be interesting and challenging for myself. It will be huge, when I finally do get back on the diet and start losing weight again.

Day 404 6/1 keto diet 12/10/2016

Well, I guess the holidays are affecting my keto diet blog. I have really been slacking on keeping this blog update. It is the holiday time of the year and there is so much going on with getting ready for them.  To be honest, I have not really made much progress on weight loss. As of right now I think I am waiting until next year to be serious about the keto diet again. I think I deserved to have some fun this time of the year and enjoy eating. I mean who doesn’t enjoy eating way too much during the holidays. I think about it this way, if I can be under 225 starting January 1st, I should have no problem getting to my goal weight by June or even as early as May.  This would definitely be ideal for me, then I can concentrate on maintaining my weight.

For, breakfast I really loaded it up. I had eggs, bacon, sausage and some pepper jack cheese all mixed together. I also had oatmeal with brown sugar.  After that, I was lazy with using my fitness pal app and did not record anything. This really messes up anyone trying to diet like myself.

 

Day 403 6/1 keto diet 12/9/2016

I woke up this morning and my usual of weighing myself.  I am a little disappointed on this keto carb loading Friday. For some reason, I have put on a little bit of weight.  I think this was do to some snacking last night after dinner. As of right now, I am still just trying to maintain my weight or at least with in a certain weight range. This is just to get me through the holidays. After the Holidays, I will be 100 % committed to the keto diet again. This will give me less distractions to deal with as well.

For breakfast, I started out with three eggs hard boiled as usual.  I had a mid morning snack of one scoop banana cream pie whey protein from tiger fitness and 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil. For  lunch I had six ounces of chicken thigh meat and one cup of guacamole. In the afternoon I had another snack one scoop banana cream pie whey protein. I also had two scoops of cookies and cream carb 10. Both of theses are from tiger fitness.  After work I went to the gym. I worked back and shoulders for about 1 hour. I am not fully back to my gym routine. This is still do to me nursing my knee injury from almost 3 months ago. I have been taking it easy. I used to be able to go into the gym for 90 minutes to two hours without any issues.

After the gym, we came  home and had dinner. We had pasta with some hot sausage and garlic bread. We also cooked appetizers of scallops wrapped in bacon.  This was an awesome dinner to say the least. This was also great for a carb loading keto day.  For dessert we had some low fat ice cream to end the meal.

Day 401 6/1 keto diet 12/7/2016

I woke up this morning and there is no change from yesterday for weight loss today.  This week on keto is unpredictable like most other weeks. I am assuming, I did not lose any weight because I was snacking last night on almonds.  That word, snacking, will definitely prevent me from reaching my goal weight if  I do not learn how to control it.  My other choice  would be to , just exercise more. This would help me burn more calories. The snacking would have less affect on me then. Realistically this is not the way to go. To, really lose weight, I should cut my caloriers and stay around 1600 as well as cutting the snacking out.

For breakfast, I had three hard boiled.  This, is still the easiest thing in the morning instead of cooking so early in the morning. I had a snack around 8 am of one scoop banana cream pie from tiger fitness and 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil.  A few hours later, I had lunch, which was six ounces of chicken thigh meat and one cup of guacamole. In the afternoon, I had another snack of one scoop banana cream pie whey protein from tiger fitness and 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil. Today, I was off from the gym and just went home to relax. For dinner, I had six ounces of pork tenderloin and a salad with ranch dressing.

On a keto diet or any diet it is  good to relax once in awhile. I am also still unsure on my knee so this is why I took off from the gym today as well. It is good to take a break from the gym or exercise and just relax. For me it is especially important to have my knee healed up properly so I do not re-injure it again so easily.

Day 399 6/1 keto diet 12/5/2016

I would say I am surprised about today and my keto diet but I would be lying. I new I had kept my calories extremely low all day Sunday. This effected the start of my work week as of this morning. Months ago, I had concentrated eating about 1200 calories on Sunday so that I would really be down by the end of the week. Eating this low of calories, seems to have some sort of jump start for a keto cycling diet. I think it really helped me out for a few months of doing that.

For breakfast this morning at 5am, I had three hard boiled eggs. Once again this is the easiest thing, I can cook in the morning. I had a mid morning snack of one scoop of banana cream pie whey protein from tiger fitness and 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil. For lunch, I had six ounces of chicken thigh meat and one cup guacamole. In the afternoon, I had another snack of one scoop banana cream pie whey protein from tiger fitness and 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil. After work I went to the gym and did a light leg workout. For dinner I had eight ounces of swai fish and a salad with ranch dressing.

To be honest attempting to diet or lose weight during the holidays is extremely difficult. I often wonder why people do it to themselves. Then, I look at myself and realize I am one of those individuals. The keto diet itself, is not for the weak. If you remember, you are cutting almost all carbohydrates out of your system, but luckily only for a short time. This can cause a lot of different psychological effects on people if they have not studied.  As for me, I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The light is my goal weight.

Day 398 6/1 keto diet 12/4/2016

Well I am really surprised about my keto diet today. Even though I ate a lot of food yesterday, I still managed to drop some weight as of this morning. As of right now, I have know idea how this is even possible with everything I ate yesterday. If, I look at what I ate at the buffet, it was mostly protein. I stayed clear away from any pasta or flour products on the buffet. This is probably what helped me as of this morning for weight loss. It is still truly shocking to myself, regardless of what I ate or did not eat.

Well today was different than almost all others when it comes to food. To be honest, I hardly ate anything at all compared to other keto days. I skipped breakfast this morning which is totally not normal for me at all. I had one scoop of banana cream pie whey protein from tiger fitness and 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil. For dinner, I had about ten or twelve hot wings. We also had some srircha shrimp for dinner. So as you can see I really hardly ate anything for today. I also think I was under 1400 calories for the day. The other weird thing is that I am not hungry as of right now.

On another positive not regarding keto and weight loss, we made it to the gym again. We spent about seventy minutes at the gym today. I lifted, I worked chest, tricep and biceps. Once again, it really feels great to be back in the gym after so long. This could be the start of a positive week on keto. I am even thinking that I might see 209 lbs again by Friday. This would be a great and positive thing to see, but my self control for eating will be the ultimate decision.
